Colorado Glasses Sunglasses Product Review
Colorado Glasses Summary
Colorado Glasses is a company that creates sunglasses based in Aurora, Colorado. This company is a small one but makes some sweet products and their sunglasses have become a staple to all of my hikes over the years. Its time to get honest with each other: I have never been a big “sunglasses guy,” think the exact opposite of Guy Fieri. Living in an ancient time, I did not wear contacts and doing the double glasses look, was not exactly flattering.
In all of the places I have lived however, the sun was never as dominant as it is in Colorado. When I moved out here, I quickly realized the 350 days of sun each year is no joke and I instantly entered the contact and sunglasses markets. Wearing sunglasses to run, bike, snowboard, hike or even drive in the bright Colorado sun, made my life much easier. Recently, I started doing some research to upgrade my glasses and came across Colorado Glasses. They have various Men’s and Women’s sunglasses with both UV and UV Polarized lenses. In this review, I cover their Colorado Blue Sky Sunglasses which are some of my favorites.
Pros
I ordered two pairs of glasses, the Colorado Glasses Colorado Blue Sky and Colorado Glasses Garden of the Gods. I love blue lenses on my glasses and found the Garden of the Gods wood finish to be very visually appealing and unique. Both pairs arrived in the mail very quickly after and each pair came in this fantastic laser etched bamboo case. This is a great alternative to the typical glasses carrying case and added a unique aspect to the product.
Both pairs have a classic look to them but what separates these shades from the field are the details. From the bamboo carrying case to the laser etching on the glasses frame to the unique use of wood in their designs, Colorado Glasses stands out.
I have worn the Colorado Blue Sky glasses on several hikes so far and they have been great. They fit comfortably on my head, the lenses, which feature UV400 (100% UV protection), block out the bright sunshine and after a while I even completely forget they are on my face.
When wearing Sunglasses outside, especially in the mountains, you know what you want for your face. $100-$200+ designer glasses make absolutely no sense when you are jamming your face into a rock on a ridge scramble. You need a pair of sunglasses that protect your eyes, are light and comfortable but not too expensive. Colorado Glasses shades fit the bill on all of those categories.
All Colorado Glasses come with a 12 month warranty, HUGE bonus and their customer service is basically unbeatable. These guys truly care about their products and you as a customer.
Cons
Not everything about the Colorado Glasses shades is perfect though. The price point for these glasses can be high, especially when you consider you can find VERY similar pair of shades at other retailers for much less. In addition, I have found that consistency over the years with the product build has been hit or miss. Some are constructed great, others…not so much.
Still though, when supporting a Colorado Based company who sells a product all of us need while being outside in our beautiful state, its hard to go wrong with these guys.
1 Year Product Review: After a year of heavy use, these glasses have slowly moved up on my list of “gear I do not want to forget”. I have a pair of Colorado Glasses in my car for driving and the Colorado Blue Sky are a must pack for every single hike I take, regardless of the season. As mentioned in my initial review, I was not a huge sunglasses guy before moving to Colorado, but now I dread any hike without a pair on my face. The customer service at Colorado Glasses is outstanding, I continue to recommend use of this product.
