Wantdo Men’s Trail Running Shoes Review

I have been using hiking boots for a long time but recently I have been starting to get into trail running shoes to hike and run. They weigh less, are usually more comfortable and provide you with the same protection and grip that most hiking boots do. I was offered to review a pair of Wantdo Men’s Trail Running Shoes and decided to give them a whirl. You can view a complete collection of their shoes here.

Here are the features these shoes come with:

• Rubber Vibram Sole: Unique diamond shape lugs on Vibram outsole that are non-slip, rugged, and come with outstanding traction.
• Lightweight One Piece Vamp: Mesh tops are light, durable and allow air to flow in and out. The shoe also comes with reflective silver patterns to increase your visibility while running or hiking in low light situations. 
• EVA Midsole: The EVA midsole offers long-lasting comfort, cushioning and the EVA insole provides good arch support and it is removable to customize feel on the go. Lace closure allows you to personalize the shoe’s fit. This also provides shock absorption on rougher terrain. 
• Protective Toe Caps: These are built in to help with rougher terrain like rocks, scree fields etc. 
• TPU Plate: This plate adds to the support of the shoe to help your feet stay comfortable in long days and rougher terrain. 

My Review of the Wantdo Men’s Trail Running Shoes

Look: 3/5 I have no problem with the look of these Wantdo Men’s Trail Running shoes, but they are just a bit bland in my opinion. You do have the option to have either a black or navy finish which is nice to give you some options. Overall though, I just prefer brighter colors on my trail runners, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the design if you are okay with a simpler shoe.  

Feel: 4.5/5   Since beginning my testing, I  have worn these trail runners for a number of weeks in different activities: trail running, road running, hiking and walking the dog. Every time I wear them, I find myself saying, “wow these are so comfortable.” Without a doubt, you can easily feel how breathable they are which I love. My feet tend to sweat a lot, especially during hot days and I could see these shoes significantly helping out with that. In every activity I have used them for, my feet have never felt uncomfortable or showed any signs of blistering. 

I will say that I am a bit disappointed by the fit. I ordered a size 11 (my standard trail running size) and they were still a bit too big. I would recommend ordering a half size down from your standard hiking or trail running shoe. 

Performance: 3.75/5 I have worn these Wantdo Men’s Trail Running shoes in snow, slush, dirt, pavement and mud and they have proved to be a versatile trail running shoe. The grip on the sneaker has been good in most conditions, but in slushy snow the performance leaves some room for improvement. If they have trouble holding up in mushy spring snow, I do wonder how it would hold up on steeper class 3 or 4 terrain as well. However, these are not climbing shoes, they are trail runners so I wouldn’t really expect them to perform well in that situation. Overall, I think they get the job done for basic hiking and trail running but I will take some points away because they are not waterproof.

Durability: 3.5/5 The Wantdo Men’s Trail Running shoes have a thicker plastic toe cap on them, but I do worry about how these would hold up in loose rock fields or rougher terrain. As you know, Colorado is full of this type of hiking and while the breath-ability is excellent, I do wonder how strong the mesh can be in demanding environments. Full disclosure, I have not been able to test the Wantdo Men’s Trail Running shoes in this type of terrain because of the sizing issue. I would

Verdict: 3.8/5

Overall, I have to say that I was impressed with the Wantdo Men’s Trail Running shoes. They were extremely comfortable, had great breathability, and seemed to be able to hold their own in a number of tough conditions. Factoring in the price point of $84.99 USD (without discounts), I would give these shoes a solid 3.8/5. If they hold up over time, I would easily bump that rating into the 4’s. If I had to pay for these shoes, I would have absolutely no problem doing that in the future and do recommend these to anyone looking for a comfortable pair of hiking or trail running shoes.
